ON TABLETOP GAMING

Recaps and lore from my D&D games, DMing aids, etc. Some might be useful, but most of this is pretty self-indulgent.

Annihilation Adjacent is a bi-weekly game I'm running for a few close friends, based on Wizards' Tomb of Annihilation module.

MY GAMING BACKGROUND

I've been into tabletop gaming for most of my life -  It started with Pokémon cards and the Star Wars Collectible Card game in middle school - later I got into Magic for a while.

I got more involved in high school with Games Workshop's
wargaming miniature games - stuff like Warhammer, 40K, Mordeheim, Necromunda, and Bloodbowl. I've since played Warmachine (Khador) as well.

I got into German board games around the same time, with games like Settlers of Catan, Carcassone, and Tigris and Euphrates - I wont' list them all here, but that gives some sense of what was "in" when I started gaming.

Dungeons and Dragons was my first tabletop RPG; I was invited by a friend to join an established group playing a "gestalt" 3.5 game in college. I've had at least one ongoing D&D game (3.5, then 4E, now 5E) ever since, and have played all sorts of other systems over the years, including:
  • Warhammer Dark Heresy
  • Dungeon World
  • Gamma World
  • The Dresden Files RPG
  • Pathfinder
  • Dungeon Crawl Classics
  • Mutant Crawl Classics
  • Shadowrun
  • The Strange
  • Tremulus
  • The Star Wars RPG
